With half of the population of Fiji being of Indian descent, Diwali is a big deal here.
This Wednesday we've been invited to two people's houses to eat Indian sweets (you don't have to ask Nat twice) and celebrate with fireworks (you don't have to ask me twice).
Like xmas in the UK, people also go to town on light decorations around their houses. It's the festival of light, and timed to coincide with the darkest night of the moon.

There is a tradition of offering sweets to neighbours and tonight ours came round with a plate of goodies for us (see image). This should make up for all the bangers and explosions on wednesday.
Happy Diwali!
