A trip to the dunes

I think the images speak for themselves here. In an effort to leave the Big Smoke (Suva) for the weekend, Nat and I headed to Sigatoka to visit Fiji's only National Park.

Sigatoka Sanddunes were a magical place. Possibly the best thing I've seen so far in the country. A series of well marked trails lead us through grasslands, up steep drifts, along a driftwood strewn shore and back through wooded glades. With most of Fiji's land being in private ownership, it felt great to be free to roam across some wild land.

It was also sooo peaceful - no cars, no noise, no people. The fact that Fiji were playing Namibia in the Rugby World Cup helped that.
